New Jersey High School Football Huddle
Greg Toal, the man who built Don Bosco Prep into a national high school football power, will join me as a guest tonight on the High School Football America radio show.
Toal, who owns a 132-10 record in 12-years as DBP's head coach, will discuss this year's team that is ranked #1 in the nation by MaxPreps. The Ironmen have won five straight New Jersey Non-Public Group 4 state titles, plus a "mythical" national championship in 2009.
Last year Toal was named ESPN RISE's National High School Coach of the Year after leading a team of underclassmen to the school's fifth straight championship. The Ironmen bring a 35-game win streak into this season that sees Toal return over 60-players from his 2010 squad.
Over the past several year's Toal has taken DBP's program to the national stage, picking-up big national stage wins over De La Salle, California's two-time defending Open Division champ. Last season, the Ironmen beat Ohio's St. Ignatius and Gilman from Baltimore.
Other guests on tonight's show: Gary Rankin, head coach of Alcoa High School in Tennessee, which has won seven straight state titles and Maty Mauk, quarterback at Kenton High School in Ohio. Mauk, who is a Missouri recruit, is poised to break several national passing records, including career yards passing and touchdowns.
